Political response to the riots...

I meant to post this up yesterday.

Moreland is the other regular cartoonist at The Times. Given the Government's response to the riots, their criticisms of the police and continued claims that cuts won't affect front line services, I thought Moreland hit the nail pretty much on the head.

Also very accurate is the total absence of police stopping the depicted crime. I didn't think the police did their job properly in the first days of the looting.

In close competition, I think, police has to be the one most ungratifying job even before nurse and butcher. Everyone hates you for it and whatever you do is considered wrongful, the pay is lousy and then you get beat up. In Germany you at least get to play Tank Girl with water cannons to give both left and right-extremists a well-needed wash at riots. Poor Bobby... Maybe he can apply for a re-education as cleaning-woman or undertaker?
