Jimmy Savile
Sunday, October 30th, 2011 02:02 pmI don't know if it is actually true, but Jimmy Savile always claimed to have invented the discotheque - or at least the twin deck record player that became the staple of analogue era discos.
That aside, I always thought there was something fundamentally odd about Jim. No-one in their right mind could be that over the top ALL the time, but whatever the truth of it, there's no denying his charity work and other good deeds. The number of people who raised in excess of £40million for good causes can't be that great, so rest in Peace, Jim, you mad old loon. I doubt we'll see your like again.
