Warcrack

I have to say that I am really enjoying the Mists of Pandaria expansion on World of Warcraft. There is an enormous amount of new play to be had on it and the graphics are beautiful – it’s not and I hope, never will be, ultra-detailed like some games are becoming.

I like the look and the feel of the game and the mix of fantasy, clunky in-game tech and such. It would be nice if, at some point, Blizzard could find the time and effort to go back to some of the older zones and tart up the graphics there too, but they’re no so bad as to be anything more than a ‘nice to have’.

Bizarrely, I am even enjoying the farming section, which seems to owe a great deal to similarly themed games on Facebook (well, insofar as I can tell. I don’t play them on Facebook).

The only problem with the game from my point of view is that it was already a very effective time-sink and now it’s more efficient at that, too. It’s no accident that when I have time off I go relatively quiet on LJ etc – I fire up WoW and then it’s time to go to bed. The time just evaporates and I can’t see this changing much in the short term.

And this is all without going out raiding or dungeoning. Just doing the dailies and following other quest chains swallows time. Especially since they have taken the cap off the number of dailies you can do (it used to be 24, now it’s unlimited).

I must start saving up to build my new rocket mount…
