Diamond shoes too tight?
Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 08:34 amHallelujah!
The RMT - the rail drivers' union have called off their strike on the London Underground. It was due to start at lunchtime and run through long enough to disrupt everyone until about Saturday lunchtime. I have no idea what these work-shy lefties were grumbling about this time. They are well-paid and get better than normal leave allowances. I don't think they even have to work a full day any more. As a rule they try to wrap their strikes up as taking place in the public interest. Well, if inconveniencing millions of people and reaming the economy are in the public interest, well job done.
Useless gimps, the lot of them.

Date: 2008-08-20 09:00 am (UTC)And, while I like final salary pensions as a principle, no-one else is getting them now. Refusing to submit to arbitration in advance also made them look silly.
I'm not going to feel sorry for the 280 who voted for a 3 day strike as an opening gambit.

Date: 2008-08-20 09:11 am (UTC)That's no reason to tear down those that still have them - maybe if a few more people were in unions and more prepared to question 'truths' handed down to us by the MoneyMen and the outright THEFT they have committed with regards to pensions in many companies maybe more people would have Final Salary Pensions and decent pay rises. I don't see any of the hapless goons that 'run' everything taking below inflation raises.
Oh and I work for a big private sector company and still have Final Salary so some of us still have them.

Date: 2008-08-20 10:28 am (UTC)I agree. It's one thing to stop issuing them to new applicants, and completely another to take them away from the people who have contributing to them for years.

Date: 2008-08-20 11:04 am (UTC)Many of these are Tupe'd workers wanting new rights. They should feel lucky to have jobs...
They can aspire, but we can all say they wanted too much....

Bob Crowe = must be held personally responsible for all loss of income and inconvenience caused by the strikes he forces on his members.
Signed,
Pissed Off Commuterk; who's only ever been f*cked over by RMT strikes, and wonders why the other tube unions are polite and reasonable about their issues.
