Today I feel a bit squiffy. Don’t know why, I was OK when I went to bed and OK (but tired) when I got up this morning. I have a bit of a stomach ache, which is no mean thing to have when your giblets are as generously proportioned as mine. I may have misjudged the Shreddies – Corn Flake mix for breakfast. In the meantime I am radiating heat like a blast furnace and slowly melting, though it’s not that hot in here. It's an uncomfortable and soggy way to lose weight.
I hope I’m not coming down with something, particularly as it’s nearly the weekend. I don’t want to be ill and that’s doubly true if it’s on my time, not the office’s.
There was a bloke sitting directly opposite me on the train, nonchalantly practicing card tricks this morning. Sadly, because I habitually travel with my eyes closed in a morning (I have long since given up trying to read in the jostle, even when sitting – a crowded train is no place to concentrate on a book), I didn’t notice until just before I changed at Euston. He looked pretty good in an amateur way and was clearly willing to put in the practice it needs to make cards flip around the deck and between hands as if by er… magic.
