what time is it?

Furtle is off at Canary Wharf this morning for some work-related shenanigans. She had to be there for 8.15am, which meant leaving the Carpathia around 7.10. Nothing too disastrous in the great scheme of things, we're quite lucky that we can get up relatively later than most people before going to work. What it does mean though, is that once you have got used to not worrying about getting up until sometime between 7.30 and 8.00am, a sudden dose of the times kept by the common herd comes as a bit of a shock and means that elaborate measures need to be taken to to ensure that you are up in time.
So, alarm at 6.45. Second alarm for 7.00am. This works nicely and Furtle is up and away. My alarm goes off at 7.20 (already advanced by 10 minutes, because Furtle usually leaves ahead of me anyway) with my main alarm radio going off at 7.30.
Four alarms then in three-quarters of an hour.
Is it any surprise that I awoke with a start at 7.50 with the radio blaring at me? The more you are woken up, the less you wake up.
