Ponsonby and Carruthers tour London after dark
Sunday, December 28th, 2008 02:10 pmAs I mentioned in my earlier post, Furtle and I spent several hours sauntering around the West End yesterday. The express purpose of the expedition was to take a few snaps of the Christmas lights while they are still up. Sadly, many of the snaps I took were beyond the ability of my little Cyber-Shot camera to capture adequately. That said, I expect that if I understood how to work it better, I may get more acceptable results, but unlike a number of my friends, I am not really into photography, so I have never really worked out how to get the best from it.
Be that as it may,

Carnaby St from Gt Marlborough St, dusk.

Liberty's from Argyll St a few minutes after dark

Regent Street, looking south

Regent Street at junction with Argyll Street

Dragonflies on New Bond Street

"What credit crunch?" Debenham's on Oxford Street

House of Fraser, next door

Third in the pecking order: silver is still classy

An Angel on Monmouth Street, Seven Dials

The Angel and the Two Brewers, Monmouth Street, Seven Dials

Seven Dials itself. Two hundred years ago, the site of one of the worst rookeries in London

The things you can buy: Coco de Mer, Monmouth Street, Seven Dials

Norwegian Tree and fountains, Trafalgar Square

Looking down Whitehall towards Parliament: the Clock Tower

In the Sherlock Holmes pub. A festive Hound of the Baskervilles

And the Sherlock Holmes pub itself...
