The latest in the 'let's resurrect and destroy an old TV series' style of movie making, it seems that 1970s science fiction series, UFO, one of Gerry Anderson's few live action series is to be developed for a big screen release by ITV Global (a name that sounds like someone wished it was BBC Worldwide).

The original was set in 1980 and featured a covert military organisation, SHADO (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organisation) with a secret headquarters located beneath a Film Studio in the UK. It starred Ed Bishop and George Sewell. It has aged just slightly better than its stable mate Space: 1999. Whilst UFO didn't have anything quite like the flared trouser space suits of Space: 1999, it did feature women on the moonbase wearing, for no obvious or explored reason, shiny purple wigs and the uniform budget involved a lot of fishnet as I recall. I did like the interceptors that had one-shot missiles on the front - huge nukes that didn't need to hit the UFO, just explode near it!

No really. What hairstyle will I have?

Anyway, the report was in ScifiNow, who picked it up in turn from Variety. So it must be true.
