When did Friday nights become so drab on telly? Having watched Have I Got News For You? I was forced for further entertainment to switch to repeats of QI on Dave and, because of scheduling clashes, the marvelously named Dave-ja Vue.

There was once a time when Friday night viewing was splendid. Channel 4 especially used to know what to do to keep the viewers - Clive Anderson Talks Back, Whose Line Is it Anyway? and other goodies. I'm not saying that we need to bring them back, but at the time, the late 80s and early 90s they were good viewing. Broadcasters don't seem to be trying anymore.

FX.

Although I should warn you we're well on our way into season 3 now. If you've not seen any it's well worth starting from the first season as there's a lot of background stuff that's worth seeing.

It's all about a serial killer that you just can't help but like. Complete with a smattering of somewhat dark humour.

It's about the only thing on telly now that I actively go out of my way to watch when it's screened.

FX doesn't broadcast on Freeview, unfortunately.

The first series of Dexter was on a couple of years ago on a channel we could get, but we missed too many episodes to be able to follow and over arching story line.

That's a bummer. Guess your original comment stands for Freeview then! :o)

But if you and the lady can get hold of the DVDs of Dexter, your Friday nights could be sorted for a while...I suspect you'd both rather enjoy it

Saturday nights are like that here, even if you have over a hundred channels on cable. It's as if the TV companies are telling us, "Go out, get a life, we're showing utter shite."

Excellent telly evening for me :)

Zoolander, so wrong it's right. A film I will happily watch over and over...

Television.... we have one of those, Mr M watches it. I am still trying to keep up with my reading... So many books so little time. I don't like Clive Anderson, he makes fun of people in a cruel way. He is also very condescending. I think he was told how clever he is all his young life so now he knows he is just too clever for us mere mortals, ach pthtewy!

May I suggest chucking away the telly and the licence fee and switching to internet-only. The good lady wife and I did so and it has enriched our lives no end.
