Flicking through the channels on telly tonight I caught the last thirty seconds or so of the Alan Carr show; literally about that much.

There was a band called La Roux performing and in the limited time I had, they sounded quite interesting in an electro-pop sort of way. Any opinions, my multitude of minions?

Just watched three videos (let's hear it for instant gratification on YouTube) and they seem to make music in the style of late-'70s/early-'80s synthpop. Not unlike Telex/Yazoo/Depeche Mode/Silicon Teens. Not my cuppa, but admirably analogue and buzzy - truly electronic!

I should take a look when I have spare bandwidth: Furtle is Warcrafting at the moment!

I want to investigate Florence and the Machine, too.

La Roux seem to be the ones with "most cred" in the "next tranch". "Going in for the Kill" has stuck in my brain.

Yup, I am quite fond of La Roux too (the young lady rather than the band btw, she's the daughter of somebody out of The Bill I beleieve) and Yazoo/Depeche Mode would be a pretty good comparison. I like teh fact that she's got a slightly weak, reedy voice which seems appropriatly electro to me.

I almost dismissed La Roux when I first watched her - but, it reminds me a little of the 80s, and the singer is - yep - the daugher of Sgt. June Ackland ("The Bill").
