A little under a year ago, a copy of Action Comics #1, the first appearance of Superman in 1938 sold for $317,200. That's the sort of sum that makes you look askance at your mother for throwing out your comic book collection all those years ago.



According to the BBC News website, it looks as though the vendor was short-changed. If he/she could have waited a while longer, they might have made a cool $1,000,000.

I had a copy, about 1985. Won it in a school lucky-dip. It wasn't exactly mint though what with it being second-hand and some kid having coloured bits in with biro, so my mum through it out with my star-wars toys. True fact :(
