Ah, the Winter Olympics are over. Finally. That means that BBC programming will revert to its usual monotony instead of the specialist sports monotony that it's been broadcasting morning, noon and night for the past two weeks.

Well done, Canada for both hosting and (I believe) topping the medals table. Well done to anyone else who won anything and commiserations to those who won not a jot.

Next up then, is the rather more important World Cup in the summer, followed by increasing build up to the the slow car crash that is the London Olympics 2012. I shall have to stock up on DVDs for that fortnight (though perversely we may go and see a couple of events since it's my council tax partly paying for the huge cost over runs).

Sorry to bring the sun to shine upon your rainy parade, but I *love* the Olympics. Also, it's not been on all that much here unless you watch TV all night! I wanted to see more of it, but the highlights shows were on at weird times and I wasn't awake for a lot of the live coverage.

I can't *wait* till London 2012. I will be there in person and on my sofa, screaming myself hoarse and getting jittery with nerves. I'd happily pay for part of it in my council tax!

I actually watched a bit of the Winter Olympics coverage (not by choice as such), and was impressed by how positive the Canoodian crowd was, and how genuine they came across. I'd be pleased if we could manage to at least look like we give a damn about our own team(s) come the 2012 clusterbucket.

I think Canda topped in golds but the US got more medals overall.

It's weird, I don't like sport but I like the winter olympics - the sports are odd and often stupidly dangerous and there's nice scenery.

UNless you live in Newport where the Council and the Celtic Manor Resort are still trying to convince us that four days in October will be the salvation of our City.

"They" have even cancelled a three day Craft and hobbies show in Cardiff because of the dratted Ryder Cup - probably because the hotels are all booked solid even though the draw for tickets hasn't happened yet.
I am sick to death of it already and we haven't even got to July when they start closing roads...
~sigh~
