Happy Cake Shop

On Friday after being dropped off at Victoria, I had a couple of hours to kill before meeting Furtle.

My wanderings took me down St Martin's Lane and past what we like to call the happy cake shop. So I took a photo and here it is, slightly low res because of my iPhone, but cheery nonetheless and we like cheery to start the week, don't we?

That's lovely. Wasn't there a confectioner in Newport whose front window looked not unlike that? Was it Stanton's? I know it was near the pedestrian crossing opposite the disco. You don't see anything like that in California, really.

I don't remember it being quite as colourful as this one, but we spent the occasional happy moment peering in through the window wishing we had a bob or two to spend as I recall...

A few months ago we had a couple of RED ones. They have to be written in capitals.

As usual, the taste didn't match the promise. The cakes were fine, but they couldn't compete with the promise made by the colour!

But beware there is an evil cake seller who tried to break the Happy....she's BAAAAAAAAAAD
