God's turban and tutu! The 2012 Olympics have perpetrated another design failure to match the logo!

The stadium looks great, though it will doubtless cost far more than budgeted for.

In the meantime, we get this blight on the skyline:



I do not automatically dislike modern art or sculptures, but there has to be something for the imagination to latch on to. I'm afraid this simply looks like a rusty crane that has melted in on itself as if someone has used a small nuclear device nearby on a building site and this just slumped.

A permanent blot on the landscape.

If it wasn't for the fact that despite posting it on 1 April, I saw it on 31 March, I'd assume it was a BBC josh...

They call it a "tangle" - our answer perhaps to Beijing's "Bird's Nest" stadium. I don't tend to like Anish Kapoor's works but this one does seem to project British eccentricity as well as being quite iconic. Having it in red seems quite an inspired move - because it provides the "red" against the "white" and "blue" of the clear sunny skies (not sure if it was intended). I just hope that the public can easily access it. I look forward to going right up to the viewing deck.
