Apparently the majority of Londoners are coming around to the view that they should support the Olympics in 2012.

I’ve gone in the other direction; I wish they would go away. I was in Trafalgar Square for the announcement whenever it was: centuries ago, now and was as happy as anyone else that we’d bagged them. Now, I’m sick of it all. I daresay that once they actually get going, it will be a different matter – Furtle already wants to go along to some Equestrian events – but the whole thing seems to be increasingly shoddy. The infrastructure going up at Stratford is very impressive and apparently under budget (I expect that’s because the budget was artificially inflated in the first place), but beyond that, the entire presentation is so shoddy.

It started at the bottom with the Lisa Simpson blowjob logo and went down from there.

Don’t mind me. I’m in a grumpy mood through lack of sleep.

Not this one; would have been quite happy not to have the Games here.

And this isn't JUST because of the "oh, it's going to be inconvenient for me", although it will be, hugely.

Nor is it just because it's going to cost everyone, but particularly Londoners, a small bloody fortune...

But mainly because I'm not a sports lover; I see little point in it, other than keeping someone fit. I'm slightly pleased when someone I like (for whatever reason) wins, but mostly entirely apathetic to the whole thing.

If you see me waving from my office window, can you check if it's just a 'hello' or a rabid attempt to make a break for freedom...

I'm already dreading what it's going to be like trying to get in to work during it.

May I remind London-based detractors that this is a once in a lifetime chance to witness the Olympics in one's own city? Rejoice! :-)

What it means is that not only will every TV channel be swamped with such fine sports as bog-snorkeling for three weeks or so, to the exclusion of everything worth watching, but having switched the set off to avoid it, I shan't be able to leave the house without bumping into it!

LOL well, I trust Lord Coe when he says it will be the best games ever. (I hope they do ROman Greco wrestling - which they never seem to show anymore.)
