What to watch..?

I’m not sure, but I think we are close to running out of telly for the time being. The only thing currently being broadcast that interests us is Sherlock and with the BBC’s peripatetic scheduling, we nearly missed the start of the second episode of that!

We like to watch entire seasons (or more) in sequence on DVD as there is usually nothing worth watching at any particular time on any particular TV channel (this despite having loads of cable channels). There are some new season releases that we are waiting for to come out on DVD, some already watched, some entirely new to us, but nothing immediate. There are three episodes left of Fringe season 1 and season 2 isn’t due for release until late in September. Even then, it is a case of waiting for it to hit the bargain bins: new release prices are just rude.

There are a few TV series where we are waiting for the producers to collect them up in complete run sets but again, even if they did it tomorrow, it would be a couple of years before a DVD company admits to itself that having sold 50 copies of its production run of 2,000,000 that maybe cutting the price from £200 to say, £50 might just help clear their shelves.

There are a few series that have already crossed the threshold into acceptable pricing, but we either already have them, or they are complete shite. Sometimes both.

It looks as though we will be rewatching Angel as it is a while since either Furtle or I have watched it. Then perhaps Babylon 5 and then, with any luck, I may be able to convince her to watch some Stargate SG-1, or I may just watch it again myself. Other than that, though, all our other collections have been watched too recently to warrant another viewing just yet.

We have run out of telly. I suppose this is how you get into gardening.

We have a splendid DVD Player that will play a DVD from any region, but also CD/DVDs in any format other than Quick Time - so .avi and .mpeg off the web work on it, too!

Firefly?
I believe such gems as Jeeves and Wooster and Northern Exposure are now available.

Well, we have the first two. I don't know anything about Northern Exposure.

It only just struck me, that you might perhaps enjoy an italian TV-series adorned with one the most idiotic titles I have come across (and I used to be an early SF-fhan, saynomore) that I nevertheless absolutely adore and which can be had on amazon for no fortune, I believe: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0346336/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Best_of_Youth I keep pestering friends to see this one, since I adore it. You get a lot of film for your money, too;) Saw it first time by pure chance on the french-german TV-channel arte and then spent my next four days laughing and crying with these then young actors as if they were my own family. Still warmly recommended anyone! One great, both moving and entertaining immensely positive obviously pre-Berlusconi gem, I find.
