Trolling around on the Battlestar Wiki, we discover a number of on-screen homages to other programmes. They are all listed behind the link, but here's a couple to be going on with
Before the Cylon attack on Caprica in the first episode of the mini series that introduced the 'reimagined' Battlestar Galactica, there is on screen very briefly, a Serenity Class transport taking off:
And in the final panning shot of the fleet at the end of the mini series, there is a very famous starship off in the background:
