Provided the weather isn’t too atrocious – driving rain, hurricanes, Godzilla, that sort of thing – and I am not late, I have taken to walking to the office from Westminster in a morning. It’s not too far, just 20 minutes stroll including nipping into Sainsbury’s to buy a newspaper and a bottle of milk. Added to the walk (most days) between home and the station at either end of the day at the Essex end and I am almost getting a modicum of exercise for the first time in years. Yay. Go me.
Oh, this morning, though. The snow has gone mainly, not that much of it stuck in the Westminster-Victoria area what with the inner city heat island and all that, but the wind is cold. Normally though, unless it is a strong wind, even that isn’t a problem But today? Oh, today it was a persistent, icy and more importantly, a lazy wind. With my coat on it was bearable, but my eyes were streaming and they still feel dried out: I am finding it hard to focus on anything more than three metres away; it’s all fallen into soft focus. As my head warms up, it will all come back no doubt, but right now I can feel the strain on my eyes!
Still. My tear ducts got a good work out as well as the other benefits a brisk walk brings.
