I’ve been meaning to write a proper entry all week, but somehow, snoozing, the odd bit of gardening, sight-seeing and playing Warcrack seemed to me to be a better use of my time. Nothing personal, you understand, but that’s how it is.
In many ways the opening paragraph pretty much sums up last week. To cut a long story short, we cracked on with starting and levelling a couple of new WoW characters and in between times did some gardening and a lot of lounging around. It was very restful.
On Wednesday we made the journey into town and did a bit of sight-seeing, including going up the London Eye. That was fun, but possibly not quite worth the admission fee – particularly as the ride itself lasted only about a quarter of an hour after a 45 minute queuing experience. Still, it was a very nice day and I got a lot of photos, which I have yet to download from my camera. I’m not sure how many of them will be worth posting up for your delectation though as the downside of the egg-shaped gondolas on the Eye is that there is always something reflecting back at you and this is quite apparent on what would have otherwise been quite splendid panoramic views. We’ll see in due course and I shall post a couple, but not too many up in a later post.
That evening we stopped off at Forbidden Planet to attend Messrs
mrtonylee and Dan Boultwood’s signing of Hope Falls before retiring for a few pints with them at the Phoenix Artists’ Club on Charing Cross Road.
We crawled back home a little later than planned and next day Furtle’s folks turned up for a brief visit during which we fixed a few problems with loose patio slates and re-potted the climbing plant out front that had had its root system compromised by the recent crash outside the house, which had broken the pot that housed it. I think we’re sorted now, but you can never quite tell.
What else?
Oh yes. Saturday evening we nipped around next door to drink wine and chat outside around a bonfire. This was very relaxing, though we did have to run our clothes through the washing machine the next day to get rid of the ingrained wood smoke!
We rounded Sunday off with a visit from
mrtonylee and
belle_fille1982, during which we consumed pizza and watched Jaws since the latter had not seen it, and followed that with the inestimable Mega Shark v Giant Octopus.

Our special effects are in n o way inferior to those in the movie...
Classic.
