caddymanWell, what an unexpected pleasure it is to see LiveJournal up and running, for once. It’s a little like seeing an elderly relative who’s been ill, sitting out in the garden with a blanket and cup of tea, enjoying the morning sunshine.
Since our good friends from Mother Russia took over the reigns of this place, it’s certainly ground to a post-Soviet halt like everything run from Moscow, hasn’t it? I suppose that now I’ve said that, I’ll be on Vladimir Vladimirovich’s ninja hit list somewhere; the second president and current prime minister of the Motherland doesn’t like criticism much, does he? Hey ho.
I know that I don’t post much on here at weekends, but I like to think that I could. I’m not even sure as it stands, that I’ll be able to post this after I’ve finished typing it. I mean, it’s now 10.43am BST as a write and a little over an hour and a half ago it wasn’t working. Again. Still, we persevere.
For once I was going to put up an entry or so, but as the weekend fades into memory and given that anything on a social website is by its nature ephemeral, there seems remarkably little point going into much detail.
Suffice it to say, Saturday was a mixed bag; we thoroughly enjoyed Marnie’s naming ceremony and meeting up with a whole gang of people we see far too rarely. This enjoyment came despite the best efforts of in turn, East Anglian Trains, London Underground, the general public and Virgin Trains. There was a whole post right there, but the annoyance has faded.
The national and international news remained grim, but England won the Lord’s test against India.
So that’s it for now. Let’s see if this post sticks, shall we?
