A little goes a long way

This is the briefest of updates, and I'm only doing it because I am hopelessly addicted to LJ.
Today is the first day of my week off work, and I am in South Cambridgeshire, having arrived on Saturday evening with a Swede in tow, for Lil' Maxi's Christening.
I clearly forgot to bring the appropriate level of God-block, for in the church my nose started to bleed. Fortunately, I managed to stop it in short order, with tissues and silent curses. Annoyingly, it came back mid afternoon, but again stopped quite quickly. The third attack, late evening was more inconvenient, and when I pretty much emptied a head full in two wash basins, two toilets, left a stream of spots down the garden path and fertilised the back lawn between 1 and 3 am, I confess I thought the jig was up. This time, I could only stop it for 5 or ten minute spells, and every time I tried to go to bed, there it was, the gusher.
This is from a man who hasn't had a nosebleed for over twenty years. Making up for lost time, it seems.
Finally I managed to stop it around 3.15 this morning, and then spent the next couple of hours sitting in the back garden alternately reading and dozing. Finally, with no recurrence, I made it to bed properly just before 5am, when it was already fully light and sunny.
Have now finished clearing up. It no longer looks as though the Cambridge Slasher has plied his foul trade in the house. A little claret goes a loooong way.
Finally, and unrelatedly, because I am not at home this week, I have just received an email telling me that our 2mb upgrade for teh intarweb is now complete. Half of me says. "Hurrah", the other half says, "Bugger".
