If you are on [livejournal.com profile] pax_draconis' friends list you will already know about this, so skip along, nothing new to see here.

Torchwood

For the rest of you, if you are interested, it seems that Auntie, flushed with the success of the re-launched Doctor Who, has not contented herself with ordering seasons two and three, plus two Christmas Specials, but now we are getting Torchwood, a new 13 part series set in the Who universe, but not featuring the Doctor.

The new series will be set in Cardiff, and features a group of renegade investigators charged by the UK Government with obtaining alien technology that has fallen to earth. The series will star John Bannerman, as Captain Jack Harkness.

Of course, since this is to be more adult themed than Doctor Who, which is targeted at a family audience, expect less restraint from lead writer Russell T Davies.

If you get my drift.

The question is, as a dedicated Whovian(?) what do you think?

I'm keeping an open mind. It could be good if done properly. Of course, there should be a UNIT TV show.

Ah now UNIT would be top notch - wasn't there once an amateur production about them? Something on the lines of Star Wars' 'Troopers'

A matter of semantics.

The correct term for an omniverous fan of the latter day doctor is a Whoover, or a Whoolio.

I may have made this up.

i for one welcome our new promiscuous bisexual 51st century overlords.

i'd also like to know if Magnus Greel will figure into this. unfortunately Robert Stack is no longer around to voice him.

Obvious the incidental music will feature Torch Songs heavily.
