One of the benefits of being a civil servant is the extra day off over the Christmas period. That would be today: Hurrah!

Problem is, I'm knackered; I hardly slept last night with toothache and when I finally dozed off I didn't wake up until gone eleven this morning, meaning that I am most likely in for another sleepless night tonight. If this carries on too long I may succumb to My Girl's entreaties to register with and make an appointment to visit the butcher dentist. I cannot adequately express my terror of these villains and their legally sanctioned torture. Marathon Man didn't cover the half of it. Ho hum.

I have just had a natter on the phone with Mum to tell her when to expect us at the weekend. She seems to be in a cheerful mood, which means that the family managed to behave itself over Christmas, which is good news. I just need them to do the same over New Year and all will be well.

Ah well, time to get on with proof-reading some rules for an increasingly complex online Gridiron simulation. Luckily at this stage I don't have to digest and apply the rules, just check them for spelung and gramer.

Bryan love, just go to the fecking dentist already. You've given the tooth a fair chance to get better by itself. Accept that it's broken and you need professional help. You didn't tinker with the boiler for several months before calling in a professional now did you?

I am sure that Yourgirl will come with you and hold your hand whilst they do whatever is necessary and then we (your collective chummery) could stop worrying about your ongoing health. (or at least about your teeth)

If the tooth is bothering you so much, why not go to the duty dentist at casulty and have it pulled? It's free AFAIK and it won't bother you again.

If the tooth is aching it's because of infection and that just can't be good right at the start of your digestive processing. Go to the dentist and get it dealt with, they are out of the stone age now and have far more hi tech whizzy things to attract your attention than the old mechanical s***. they can laser and ultra violent you without even breaking a sweat and the stuff they give you to "Rinse" with is much nicer tasting. and one other thing, bad teeth can give you bad tummy and lots of strange digestive pains.

I recommend putting clove oil on the tooth that's aching. It works better than codeine.

Keep taking painkillers and ignore the problem. If you are lucky the nerve in the tooth will die and the infection won't kill you.

I'm sure that thy girl has all sorts of picks and tweezers in her archeology kit that she could employ to excavate the tooth for you after rendering you unconscious using wine (blow to back of head with a bottle of robust claret)
