My first day in the office during 2007 and it all seems pretty much like 2006 so far, except perhaps, for the faint metallic tang to the air.

This year I have decided (not a resolution) that I shall try to be more health and money conscious. The plan has been implemented by me not buying a Mars Bar this morning. A little later on, I shall contact the bank and grovel; being over my overdraft limit as early as the 4th of the month does not bode well for a January that I knew already would be slow. Where I had planned to use the word quiet, I now intend to insert sepulchral. The upshot is that if anyone has anything interesting going on, which would cost money to involve myself in or with, will not be considered before February.

I foresee greater amounts of cheap, fresh veggies in my diet over the next few weeks and a consequent rise in greenhouse emissions. See how my financial crisis threatens the world? Any unclaimed bundles of tenners you might find will be gratefully received; I’m not proud, I will accept bundles of fivers, too and unclaimed winning lottery tickets1.

I am contemplating the reduction of my vast collection of stuff through the auspices of eBay. I have vaguely toyed with the idea for sometime now, and being skint seems like a reasonable excuse to start culling a whole bunch of stuff that seemed like a good idea at the time but which is now just taking up space – albeit well-packed away space. Time to look up the possibilities, I think.

1Preferably for amounts greater than a tenner unless you are willing to deliver them yourself.

With average meal prices based upon a mix of veggies at less than a quid per scoff, it is distinctly cheaper than many other forms of grub.

Pasta with a vegetable based sauce or Risotto with the same are very flexible, quite cheap, easy and great for using whatever is lying around.
Oh and lentil dhaal (sp?) is very cheap, very low fat and a yummy way of satisfying curry cravings.

What if I have many bundeles consisting of only 2 fivers per bundle......
Do you collect or do I actually have to spend time collating them all into one enormous bundle ?...coz I dont think i can be bothering with all that !

Good luck with the healthy eating (don't look on it as a diet - diets don't work) - copious qualtities of fresh veggies and fruit give you a squillion options for untra quick, healthy and enjoyable meals...

...But as well as having an Uber cool Icon, Mr Hughes is right veggies aren't cheap and a basket full of 'green' will cost you more than a basket full of brown and beige complex carbs salt and sugar.

...and I have some 'Who' themed freebies for you....to tide you over until February...

Life's too short to eat vegetables. The only vegetable I like is CHIPS but Mr M. says they are not healthy. I am, therefore, forced to consume things that are green in colour and politically green too YEUK.
