A little more affordable for the mad scientists amongst us. Who can afford to be without a pair of Mechanical Spectacles...?

Just the job for any alchemist with a metal hand, a Jacob's Ladder and a semi-simian assistant...

Steady now, Caruthers.

They are a true marvel, but are they efficacious for a man suffering under the curse of astigmatism ?

Seeing 'The Court of the Air' mentioned on that page, I was wondering if you'd ever heard of a series of kid's books called 'Mortal Engines'. They have airships and the genius concept of "municipal darwinism", oh yes, these stories include giant mechanical *towns* that can move and hunt one another!!!

No, that's new to me. Mebbe I should look them out and read them to my little niece? Of course, she's only 2 months old, so I doubt she'll appreciate them properly...

I suspect they are written for the 10-13 age group but they are loads of fun. One thing I will sya is that there is a teenage girl character in said books who is somewhat feral and as a result there are some suprisingly visceral shivings in it and more spilled claret than one expects to find in a book of this type.
But 'Municipal Darwinism', that's worth the price of admission alone!
