That's unusual: an earthquake in Kent. For such a geologically stable place, the UK has been a bit wobbly these past few years! Of course 4.7 is bugger all in the great scheme of things, but when you don't expect to have any...

Maybe that was the origin of the slamming door that woke me up earlier?

We have had bigger than that in Wales in my lifetime so phoooey to their 4.7 ( I believe it was 4.8 in about 1973)
Something that puzzled me was the number of people that called the fire brigade because their chimney had fallen down. I would have called the insurance people... but that's me

Ha! It reminds me of one of my favourite Goon Show episodes, The Greenslade Story, in which Eccles expects to get a job with the BBC as a radio announcer, saying "Winds light to variable." Bloodnok's radio announcing school teaches another character to proclaim "Earthquakes in East Acton".

Milligan would have been proud.
