Haymarket car bomb

I see the police have disabled a car bomb, or potential car bomb in the West End of London, on Haymarket. No-one seems quite sure what it was at the moment, nor how big. The question is: what is there in Haymarket that would make someone want to blow the place up? There are a couple of theatres and a McDonald’s as far as I can recall: I see that David Suchet is playing Poirot at the Theatre Royal, and that The Phantom of the Opera is on at Her Majesty’s. I don’t know what’s playing at the Comedy Store.

Admittedly there are night clubs in the area, but I seem to recall that Haymarket is relatively quiet for all its proximity to the debaucheries of the West End.

No-one knows, either, who is behind it, or at least no-one is saying, according to the BBC. Police only know because an eyewitness tipped them off after the car had been driven erratically down the street and crashed into a bin or a bollard, before the driver legged it. Presumably the driver was pissed or out of his head on some narcotic or other. Well, if he was a so-called Islamist that must surely be a path to paradise; get pissed or doped up and fluff your mission.

I tell you, the bastards we get these days are not a patch on the bastards we used to get.

No-one has standards any more.

You've never been to Tiger, Tiger have you?
That's justification enough.

I'll wait to see if anything much comes of this as the press have massively overstated some 'terrorist plots' they've reported in the past. If however everything that's being reported is on the money then it does show once and for all that suicide bombers aint as common as people try and make out, if they were then we'd be having attacks like this every other day. The excuse that's always used is that we don't get more because of suveillance or the bombers having trouble getting materials. Nails, petrol, gas cannisters. I could walk out of here and get hold of those right now and have a half-arsed car-bomb ready for tomorrow morning. No need to study the net for chemical processes or bomb-construction ideas and no need to be part of a cell who gives themselves away by talking about the plot on the phone. The fact that this doesn't happen all the time surely shows that lone nutters aren't that common and that the 'organised' nutters that exist are thankfully more interested in dying in an aboslutely 'spectacular' attack or hitting a 'prestige target' than just plain and simple slaughter like the type of nutter found in Iraq. That's something to be thankful for.

I agree with pretty much everything said here.

It's a pity to see terrorists standards diping so badly - it's about time someone got them to work towards improving their standards, setting up and a agreeing clear SMART objectives - core behaviours and management structures. They should deffinately work on their cororate image - try and sort a corporate headquarters not based in some sandy desert somewhere with tents....decide on a corporate image...smart suit instead of the rag headed explosive chest rig look ...so 1980s west bankdhaling...

or of course we could simply shoot the f***ers on sight !

I'm for the last option myself..

The mean bugger in me thinks it would be commendable for these idiots to bomb anything perpetrated by Andrew Large-Wanker, preferably in the early hours when nobody is actually in the theatre.
