caddyman: (Christmas)

The journey home was, for once, quite unexceptional. I was back in Wem by about one pm: for once all the connections worked (I didn't even have time to buy a cup of tea at Wolverhampton).

We have packed an over-excited ten year old to bed. Much to my surprise she still seems to believe in Father Christmas. I know she's a little immature for her age, but... Still, it's harmless enough and I'm damned if I'll be the one to tread on her childhood. That said, if she still believes this time next year she will have to be disabused. Can you imagine what all the other little monsters would do to her if she turned up in secondary school still professing a belief in Santa?

That said, tonight I get to scoff a mince pie and I've already forged teeth marks in a carrot with a pie cutter. The old Santa's been, eaten and fed Rudolph scam runs for another year.

I have had a couple of texts from Furtle who is currently at Luxor. (That's in Egypt, not a hotel in Las Vegas) and grumbling that she must be up again at four in the morning. Six o'clock local time. I can see that might be a pain, but since she has reportedly turned in already, well...

Oh well. That's that for now.

Merry Christmas, ladies and gentlemen.

You mean you don't think he's real? Well please tell me who it was that NORAD were tracking all day yesterday? I know because I was helping them by watching Google Earth and checking their map.

Don't worry about secondary school, an awful lot of children that age will keep up the pretence for the sake of their parents and family. Oh and girls are better at this than boys of that age.
