I just realised that this journal was five years old yesterday.

I have managed to keep a fairly constant stream of drivel going for FIVE years! Prior to this, that's 2,601 entries, 8,859 comments posted and 13,134 received.

And to think that before the invention of the interweb, any and every attempt to keep a diary or a journal lasted about three days and contained such useful information as Got up. It rained. Watched telly. Good to see that the quality hasn't dipped, then.

Us wot lives yer in the port has to keep talking so we know we are still alive. we never use one word where 17 will do the job, it's because of something they put in the water here - along with all the other chemicals.

So, if you were to convert the bloggage into say... a novel, what proportion of novel do you think you could have written instead of blogged? -not that you might be novelistically inclined but it's something I consider often. Speaking of which *scampers off to the writing slope clutching a quill*

Oh I have no doubt that in sheer volume of words, there is enough here to make a novel. Such minor considerations as consistyency, plot and characterisation may, however, be lacking.

It's one thing to hack out a couple of hundred words of grumblage every day and quite anotherm to sit down to write a story!
