Interesting when a BIG STAR dies isn’t it?

When [livejournal.com profile] colonel_maxim yelled down the stairs of the Athenaeum Club last night that Heath Ledger had medicated himself to death, I was appropriately sad. Not yet 30 and dead; a waste. I then thought, “He’s the bloke who plays the Joker in the new Batman film”. Then I thought, “Other than that, I have no idea why he’s a star. What’s he been in?”

It turns out that I have actually seen a film of his: he is the one who was not Matt Damon in the bits of Brothers Grimm I didn’t sleep through – though I wasn’t sure if he was from the same clone vats as Josh Hartnett; it’s hard to keep up with the Hollywood look-alikes.

Furtle has a copy of A Knight’s Tale, which I can’t remember ever watching, though I probably shall at some point. I see he was in The Patriot, which I refuse to watch as I do anything involving Mel Gibson’s anti British propaganda movie campaign career1.

So there we are. An entire career been and gone and the only bit that interests me hasn’t been released yet.

1Chicken Run and, if I am in the mood, possibly the first couple of Lethal Weapon movies, excepted
