Well, a few more stills - or rather character portraits have been released from the Watchmen movie, which is due for release a year from today on 6 March 2009.

[livejournal.com profile] trav28 posted up a couple of pics on his LJ, so I wandered over to the Watchmen site and found the rest. Most of them are behind the cut to save bandwidth if there's still anyone out there on dial up.

No pictures of Dr Manhatten. I think we can guess why.

A bit of a paunch as I recall, having been retired a few years.

Although 'Silk Spectre' is hardly descriptive of that costume...

'Latex Lady' might be more appropriate ;-)

On another LJ someone pointed out that the Silk Spectre costume was canonically bondage gear and lingerie. That being the case, and given modern mores, Latex Lady is pretty appropriate.

Actually, he was drawn pretty buff but with a paunch and in some panels I couldn't tell whether he had a paunch or whether he was just buff. I can see a bit of a paunch in the above picture though.

I agree, I think he had that weird body shape that only guys in the 1950's had where they could have a bit of a gut *and* be pupmed up at the same time.

It's possible, if you look at the Nite Owl as a whole, to imagine that there's quite a lot of Shatner-patent girdlage going on there. he does look a bit thick round the midriff for a superhero.

I definitely didn't see Silk Spectre like that.

And they all have capes! Hollis Mason really wouldn't approve at all.

To be fair only two have capes and I thought they both had capes in the comic too.

Re: Nite Owl. First thing I noticed is that he is not chubby enough. I am betrayed. Then I went back and looked at the other pictures.

Bemused at Silk Spectre - I'm sorry, I'd struggle with that.

Rorschach doesn't look shabby/shitty enough.

The Comedian and Nite Owl look awesome (agreed, I'd like a bit of flesh to be let go when the costume comes off for Nite Owl).

Ozymandius is too damn young.

Too young and too human, somehow. Maybe it's the soulful eyes.

Ooo! Ooo! Is it true then? Are the no pictures of Dr Manhattan here because the Jim Henson Workshop haven't finished building their animatronic puppet of him! Frank Oz to do the voice! Ooo!

It better be damn good, this movie-film.

Ozymandias is perfect - narcissism, smugness and crazy eyes!
