Now see, this is what I am talking about.

I had a decent breakfast - a hearty bowl of cerial with milk, no sugar and a cup of coffee. Nothing too heavy or lardy, but with ostensibly enough fuel to keep me going until lunchtime, when I get to scoff a sarnie and some fruit.

Just now, though I am starving. My stomach thinks my throat's been cut. But I know that if I eat an ounce of anything, my metabolism will use it to create a pound of additional weight, because that's how it works.

Intelligent Design my arse.

My fifteen-yr-old stepdaughter, who knows everything, is fond of pointing out that several little, healthy snacks at regular intervals during the day are best, then a filling, sensible meal in the evening.

"Is that a fact?", I reply, and ignore her.

The problem with theee and me (and I suspect a large portion of the population) is that we can see no logical reason why the part of the day we are awake isn't devoted to constant grazing to ward off boredom between meals!

That's what the scientists should be doing; instead of growing mice with human ears on their back, they should be developing something with the nutritional value of a lettuce but the taste and texture of prime steak.
