What is the average monthly/quarterly electricity bill in the UK, does anyone know, or know where I can find out?

I think British Gas are trying to fleece us. Bloody deregulated utility companies.

Having just done a quick check on ours it worked out about about £150 from December to March. British Gas will allegedly be trying to fleece you- they did us. A suggestion if I may: copy any correspondence to Energywatch :

Energywatch. Address. 4th Floor, Artillery House Artillery Row London SW1P 1RT. Phone number. 08459 060708

and watch when/if they send you cheques-one they sent us turned out to be rather rubbery!

Depends how profilgate you are. Dec to March for us and the wee boy in a 2 bed house was about £50

I just had a bill for £350 for the period 10th Jan - mid-May for gas and about the same for electricity. That is DOUBLE the monthly amount we paid before and Dave isn't here and we turned off the heating a while back. I am mad.

We pay £50/mo for gas&elec.

We recently had a letter from them saying "we will now take £58/mo". I called up and said "no". They responded by saying "well actually... yes". I then said "uhhhhhhhm, no" and they said "uhhhhhhhhhhhhm yes".

I got bored at this stage and hung up, vowing to sort it out at a later date - which I haven't yet done.

We pay £50 per month for a five bedroom house and the heating was on constant through the winter - until mid april actually. They tried to put it up so Mr M just told them if they did we would go elsewhere.
Tell them to read the meter and if that doesn't work then tell them to get the meter tested and in the mean time you will pay what you consider to be a reasonable amount. That should confuse em cos it won't be on their puters
