I suspect that this post will largely be of interest to [livejournal.com profile] fencingsculptor, though a couple of others may like to look.

Friday morning I took delivery of the much delayed new Hotwheels Elite Batmobile, a 1/18 scale model of the classic Batmobile from 1965.

of the model alongside the Corgi 267 toy from 1966 and the more recent Corgi model of the comic book equivalent, which is clearly based upon the TV Batmobile, but simplified for ease of drawing.

August 1965, the Batman TV show Producers approached George Barris of Barris Kustom Cars to have him build a new Batmobile for their new upcoming show. The only catch was the car had to be ready for action in a mere three weeks! Seeing the bat-like qualities of his Ford Futura concept car already had, George felt it was the perfect answer to the quandary 20th Century Fox had created. Three weeks later, in October of 1965, the Batmobile was born and television history was made...

Let's face it, who wouldn't want to drive down the High Street in the Adam West Batmobile?

I had the Corgi model when I was a kid, with the three "cannon" behind the cockpit. They fired little yellow plastic projectiles. Didn't the doors open too?

Nice to see you're prioritising with the shelf space in the new gaff, Bry.

No the doors don't open on the small one.

It has the shooty thing, the wire cutter at the front and the flame effect at the back.

It's not the fact that you've got it - Mr M likes lego and has three cabinets of the darned stuff including the pirate ship - its the fact that you have taken so many pictures of it now that's funny.

Pshaw.

That was purely for the edification on Mr [livejournal.com profile] fencingsculptor who seems to not be around to comment.

We don't have any junk in the house these days since you got rid of all yours before going to Camp Kabul.

Got a lot of stuff, though. Have to flog some of it, I guess, because of space constraints..
