Cluster Maps

I have been looking at the cluster map on my profile page and bewailing (not literally) the fact that I have no hits from the southern hemisphere or indeed pretty much anywhere outside Europe and North America. Before the previous one was archived and filed in tiny, stamp like format, I had a couple of hits from Australia and South East Asia, plus a couple from southern India and Sri Lanka. I have never made an impression on South America, though the occasional Russian robot would appear and give me another Moscow hit.

I wonder what it is that determines visits to a blog page?

I can see why I get moist of my hits where I do; the stoutly monolingual English-speaking community tends to stick together and most people who speak English as a first language live in the UK or US, but it would be nice if the Commonwealth joined it from time to time. Of course, the distribution of internet access is important, too, but I’d have thought that just idle surfing would get a few more visits.

I want more red dots on my map and I want them from further afield!

Now if only I could think of something consistently interesting to write to lure people to my little corner of the web…

The little map on my profile has NO hits. It's been there for a few months now, and I'm embarrassed! I wonder if it denotes hits on the profile rather than the LJ page itself, or maybe I just didn't install it correctly.

The map you have only registers the hits for the day; I used to ghave one of those. It wipes clean again after 24 hours. My clustermap is cumulative for a year at which point it archives at postage stamp size and starts afresh.

So if you just visited my page, why isn't there a little dot on the map? Bah! I'm going to get another.
