The weather being murky, wet and rainy today, I decided to dig out the trench coat and fedora for the trip to work. That meant decanting a few things out of my bag since a rucksack spoils the illusion; Bogey never wore a rucksack over his trench coat and neither shall I. Luckily there is a big pocket for a book and I can squeeze the Walkman and work glasses into the jacket (though I do tend to rattle a bit if I over do it). Spoils the line, too – or would if I had a line to spoil. Imagine Bogey with no hair and problems on the vertical hold. Maybe Hitchcock at a fancy dress event…

It’s probably still a bit mild during the daylight hours for that lot, but I reckon it will come into its own on the way home tonight. We are now in that stage of the year when it is dark even when I get home early on a Monday for games night.

I have noticed over the past few years that the fedora and trilby are making between them a modest comeback. Another bloke on the train was wearing a particularly flamboyant fedora with a brim the Shadow would have approved of. It may have kept the rain off, but by crackey, it didn’t suit him. I’m not sure it would have suited anyone; it was a monster of a titfer.

I think you need a dose of "Geek Begone".

Collecting stuff or acquiring kit to go on re-enactments/ role-playing games is one thing, but buying up outfits so you can sit in front of the telly eating pizza dressed as Indiana Jones is quite another...

I'll have you know I can now do 2 out of the 4 basic bullwhip cracks. I can do one of them without leaving a whelt across the back of my head too !

And all of the film/TV clothing and accessories I have bought I wear out and about unashamedly !!!

After all, most of my it is unrecognisable worn individually.
Indy Jacket and bag...no one notices. Indy Shirt and Jacket the same.
Das Boot Jacket and Jeans. My BJ Hunnicut Grandad Top and Converse, or my Doctor Who Converse trainers, my Casino Royal Sunglasses, My Gebersjager/ Heinrich Harrer smock or my genuine 1930s Everest glacier goggles !

No one knows...except me ... but wearing screen acturate clothing might just make me smile. So knickers !

(I don't think they're screen accurate to anything though!!!!)

Admitedly my Indy Jacket and a brown fed might trigger some comments and it's unlikely that I would wear both unless I was intending to be a little bit Indy !

Remember, if it weren't for me you'd have no Kriegsmarine jacket ;oP

By the way seen my next raincoat..

I'm all for the return of fedora and trilby (not together though) and at some point shall make it to Locke & Co and get meself one - I've been meaning to for aeons.

One good reason for why more chaps (and chapettes) should wear such noggin-clobber - far fewer brollies clutting up the pavement and targeting my eyes and jugular.

Plus they tend to look good.
