The biggest news that I have to report today, other than the fact the weather has gone rather mild, is that I have no big news. The weather had better not change before I get home this evening as I have reduced my wrappings accordingly and I shall be exceedingly displeased if it suddenly becomes cold again before I have chance to prepare.

I am still reeling from the journey in. At Woodside Park, the tube train was suddenly invaded by an infestation of schoolboys aged around 11 or 12, together with a couple of keepers. It’s bad enough when this happens and the kids are effervescent 8 or 9 year olds, but with blazered, immediately prepubescent schoolboys on a school day trip, you have to put up with the smell of malt biscuits as well. I don’t know what particular combination of vile secretions creates that smell, but I could do without it on a Monday morning.

I think that I have now finished importing tunes onto my iPod. I seem to be 3,000 short compared with my Walkman, having topped out (on the PC at least) at an even 12,000 tracks. There may be the odd CD hiding that I have to rip, but largely it’s done. All I have to do now is grit my teeth and isolate the classical from everything else in two playlists, so I don’t find myself jarring between hard rock and baroque music in sequential attacks of Motorhead and Vivaldi. I have created a classical playlist, but the sheer weight of other music is making the creation of a rock/other playlist a tedious affair.

Create a smart playlist, with the rule set to Genre is 'Not Classical'.

iTunes will then add anything you rip that doesn't have that genre to the playlist automatically.

Ooh, ta.

I am still finding my way around these features!

Alternatively, enjoy the contrasts. Mine has a tendency to go from Tori Amos to Nine Inch Nails to Grieg. Invigorating, I calls it.

That smell is the smell of the future. They will one day rule this country ~shudder~
It is also the smell of inadequately washed clothes mingles with old farts (the windy variety not aged parent variety - although...)
boys have this smell at the end of the day if they have a keeper who scrubs and inspects them or at the beginning of the day if they have a keeper who doesn't sniff them often enough. Boys are smelly it is genetic
