One of the things about this place is that you can be certain that when things get busy, an air of extreme panic sets in and we get the opportunity to rush around like headless chickens. It gets a bit wearing, especially when the boss keeps interrupting for chats on different but similar bits of policy so that we end up confusing each other even more by talking at cross purposes.

Still, mustn’t grumble, I guess. The old seat of the pants method of “argue as you go” seems to be standing me in good stead and if the mark 1 brane is slowly rusting, the ability to squeeze a few extra bytes out of it in emergency is undiminished.

I seem to have secured a temporary promotion. For how long is yet to be determined, but the extra loot to go with the extra responsibility will be welcome. Now I have to somehow translate that into a permanent uplift…
