A couple of days ago, I watched the entirety of Dr Who and the Silurians from 1970 and thoroughly enjoyed it despite a few moments of cheesy acting and the perennially cheap SFX. I think the BBC must have spent no more than 10/61 on the costumes. The story and general production values have, however, held up well all things considered.

This afternoon I followed that up with Dr Who and the Sea Devils from 1972 and a direct sequel to the earlier story. No Brigadier or Unit this time, but the original Master instead and lots of involovement from the Royal Navy. All good stuff and Jon Pertwee at his man of action best.

I shall now move on shortly, though not tonight, to watch Peter Davison as the fifth Doctor in Warriors of the Deep, featuring both Silurians and Sea Devils. It will be inyeresting to see how the pacing of the stories developed in the ten years or so between that and the previous story and also what the costuming was like in comparison.

I likes me nostligia telly.

1That's 52½p in modern.

Thus leading to one of the great debates - did he really think the Clangers were trying to communicatewith him?

Doesn't Warriors of the Deep involve a cameo appearance by Dobby the Pantomime horse from Rentaghost in the part of the Murka?

I have a lot of very old Dr Who estipodes lined up in my online Netflix rental queue. Am looking forward to watching them. I remember the first two titles you mention from when I saw them as a lad. The cheap FX were part of the charm.
