Last night then, we popped down to the Griffin for a couple of hours to watch Redd's dad do his Elvis thing. I'm not sure, but I think I might have awakened an unexpected interest in Elvis impersonaters in Furtle. She found herself enjoying the cheesiness of it all rather more than I would have expected. It may have been the kiss on the cheek...

I believe she may be LJing about it herself a little later. It was a laugh, though - particularly the thought of Elvis performing next to a pub barbecue in London.

It occurred to me that there is a comic strip to be had in Fat Elvis the vigilante. I may try and essay a character sketch later.

My sister was nuts about E Presley when we were teens. I wonder what she would think of Elvis impersonators? There's the harmless cheesy fun element, that you can just sit back and enjoy. On the other hand some might think it's all sacrilege. As I never cared for his post-army output, I think I'd really like to see a band do his earliest stuff, especially if the singer had his voice down pat and the guitarist knew his Scotty Moore licks. Still, performing in a Las Vegas rhinestone jumpsuit next to a London pub barbecue, yes indeed. Fun but tacky!
