Well that's the weekend done and dusted. Not a bad one all in all,

ellefurtle was birthdayed yesterday, though that went a little wrong toward the end once it became clear that two months of watching the intake of saturated fats does little to prepare the system for the onslaught from a large pizza. Less pizza next time, I think, with somewhat less grease!

We popped along to the Griffin quite late but still got to see the final half of the Elvis Impersonator act, which was as pleasingly cheesy¹ as we expected, but good fun nonetheless. Of course, the thunder storm meant that the garden was too wet for the show, so it was performed inside where it was rather hot and a couple of pints of lager disappeared south in short order. We decided to cut it short after that, though and retired to the Carpathia to watch the final couple of episodes of 24 season 6.

Having looked it up on the map, Samoa is about as far west as you can go before crossing the international date line into tomorrow. This was useful as moving to Pago Pago time meant that Furtle's birthday was still current in the world until Midday local time, so this morning we had a champagne breakfast. Given that Tonga is 12 hours ahead, I judge that all right-minded people should commence their birthdays on Tongan time and end them on Samoan. This stretches the birthday to a full 48 hours before you even begin other wheezes.

We finished tonight eating a very tasty Indian Take Away ordered on the walk thanks to marvellous applications on the iPhone. We sat and watched Joan Hickson's Marple while we ate. This was our consolation for a slightly prolonged walk around Camden and Kentish Town because of an unfortunate earlier misunderstanding between me and another iPhone app.
