Today I am mainly practicing my old man walk. I can't quite shift the nagging back and although it comes and goes, there are times when I find myself creeping along most gingerly.

By and large it seems that once the muscles warm up, the pain reduces. Unfortunately sitting at a desk hacking away means that the muscles need warming up again every time I stand up, and standing at the keyboard is counter productive on the old lumbar and coccyx. I know; I tried for a while.

Time soon, to go out and get the lunchtime sarnies. I suspect I'd be best advised to allow a few minutes longer than usual for the trip so that I can move more with a slow dignity and less like Patsy and Eddie after a binge. Amusing to watch, less so to do.

That mercury idea is sounding more and more tempting if only it would work....

Can I suggest some Deep Heat, old boy? Warm and indolence in one easy package...

If it's lower back pain, you might be able to relieve some of the pressure also by using a low footstool while sitting to keep your knees slighty higher than your pelvis (it straightens out the spine). This is what I do for chronic lower back pain; I don't know if it would be helpful for you or not.

...or you could just jam a tyre lever in amongst the lumbar vertebrae and give the whole thing a good wrench.

Just a thought.

Have you got a thingummy lower back supporter? it might work, though backs are generally poo. Fish oils and mustard baths its the only way.

Mugged or catknapped? anyway your body is a machine(grr) you got to lube it(tm) with things that don't always come out of casks(she says wanging back the fizz and doing in a fair old pile of parma ham and salami spianata) fish oil is gud, you can get orange flavoured stuff mmmmmm.
and no I meant goblins ever so obsequ..obsequi...subservient, they kinda roll themselves up at the base of the seat back and snuggle into your bottom back bit, awwwww
