Ah, the weekend.

Got up late and mucked about for a while. Got dressed, went to the pub for a pint of lager and an all-day breakfast. Most toothsome, but now I am full.

I am now back home and think I may take a post prandial nap while listening to mt iPod.

[livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle has wandered off to the hairdressers, then she is off to B&Q to buy seeds, plant pots and things for her next attempt to grow chives and chillis and stuff. I am going to have my hands full here; plants rarely survive the touch of the Furtle, so I may have to step in at some point to care for our little greenlings.

Apparently she has managed in the past to murder a mint plant. Mint is immortal, only a Furtle can kill it. It is a minor miracle that my Madagascar Dragon Tree, Bilbo has survived (and has recently been repotted). I have managed to resuscitate one of the four rose plants she was given and though it grows at an odd angle, it has produced a rose:

It smells very nice, too.

If it be any consolation my Mum murder an artificial plant. It literally turned yellow, brown and all the leaves dropped off. Yes it was definitely plastic!!

Au contraire. I am advised - and who am I to argue - that she lavished care and attention on it. She loved it to death...

Last week I 'repotted' my mint which entailed throwing the pot contents away, refilling the pot of compost and then ripping a stem off the old plant and poking it in the pot. It's happily growing away, I do this twice a yeah. You are a MURDERER.

I killed a spider plant. I am death to indoor plants but gardening I can do. I have grown tomatoes this year we ate at least two pounds and then I made three 500gram jars of green tomato chutney. I have also given the wisteria a severe haircut that everyone said would kill it and it is now full of leaf and sending out tentacles.
Indoor plants and clematis do not survive

You can kill mint. Scorched earth (a year of drough, followed by a bulldozer with flame attachment) or several weeks under water will do it. It is hard, though.
