I seem to be at a bit of a loose end.

I am sticking to my resolution not to write anything of consequence (other than this, your favourite journal, of course)for at least another week, now the Beast is dead, and I find myself curiously unable to motivate myself to do much else.

I have been out and consumed the traditional Sunday lunch at the local greasy spoon, done some shopping for necessary vittles, and read far too much about lesbians (if such is possible) in [livejournal.com profile] colonel_maxim's News of the World. I find myself both fatigued and suffering mild ennui. No wait, I think it might be gas...

The fag end of this inherited Goth1 cold is disrupting my sleep patterns with constant night time coughing - although a very purple-tasting purple Strepsil seems to have suppressed it for the moment so I think that I shall just listen to a CD whilst lounging on the bed. I have just rediscovered a Porcupine Tree CD that I bought a mere six or so weeks ago, still in its wrapper. I shall listen to that.

Thinking back, I believe I may have bought it the day before a certain person arrived on the scene, and subsequent events have driven it from my mind. Since I now have at least a fortnight before I see my Girl again, while she writes informative and learned things about neolithic soil samples, I shall begin the process of rediscovering how to fill hour upon hour of free time by acquainting myself with new prog music.

It's raining heavily at the moment and there is a cold wind blowing.

I hate this global warming and the drought conditions it is imposing on us.

1Tracking back through those from whom I most likely contracted said virus leads me to point my finger and utter J'accuse at Eddie's Night Club of Birmingham, which I believe does gothy things. Never been there myself, having been a fogey since age 12, and living in London to boot.

It's Sunday, I'm at home, so I must have been watching downloaded telly again.

Well, I haven't watched all of it; the first burn of SG-1 went wrong, and the episode stopped with 10 minutes to go. I've done a new burn but haven't had time to watch the last bit yet. I have watched Battlestar Galactica episode 4. Oh, crumbs. Colonel Tigh. What do you think you are doing?

It occurs to me that maybe I watched these in exactly the wrong order. I should have started with the lowest quality programming first, and worked my way up. Never mind; it's still all better than whatever terrestrial telly is putting out on a Sunday.

Having acquired a double DVD set of The Road to Perdition and Miller's Crossing for about £8 give or take a penny, we watched the former during the late afternoon. I rather enjoyed it, I must say. Tom Hanks in a much darker role than usual os quite welcome. Sometime later in the week I guess we'll try Miller's Crossing. These are both films I never made it to see in the cinema for some reason or reasons long lost in the mists of time and futility.

Beyond that, it's been a typically lazy Sunday. I think I'm over the test win now, so I think I'll nip and watch the last ten minutes or so of SG-1 before Top Gear comes on.
