X-Files

caddyman: (Poorly adapted movies or telly)
Early indications are that the new X-Files movie is worth about 3.5 stars out of 10. The Times suggests that it is an average TV episode stretched to feature length; not earth-shatteringly bad, but not quite good enough to make you care about the story.

[livejournal.com profile] telemeister suggested something similar when he wrote it up the other day.

I think I may try to read another review before deciding whether to go and see it or whether to just wait for the DVD.

Besides, we haven't seen Dark Knight yet and everyone agrees about that, too. Just rather more positively, is all.

Poot. I had such high hopes.

Having just spent a moment or two (ahem) wandering through Wikipedia, I find two snippets of information that will age you.

1 Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV version) is 11 years old next Tuesday, 11 March, and
2 Star Trek: The Next Generation gets the key to the door on 28 September, when it reaches its 21st birthday.

Of course, X-Files hits 16 in September, too.

Since My GirlTM and I are spending Christmas in different places - she sipping daiquiris on a boat sailing up the Nile and I trying to get extra sleep in a small bed in Wem - we decided to open our Christmas pressies this evening. I shall be off to Shropshire tomorrow afternoon and she will be flying out from Heathrow on Christmas Eve.

I am now the proud owner of The X Files - The Complete Collector's Edition DVDs. Witness:

All nine seasons plus the movie neatly sandwiched in between seasons five and six. How cool is that?
We have already watched the first disk.
