Never let it be said that once I make a start, I manage less than at least two goes at something before giving up.
Actually, apart from the need to work out in my mind precisely what I'm after, I really, really need to practice the drawing of the pictures. If I can't get it right with a pencil, I'm never going to manage to blow the picture up into pastel and glorious colour!

Anyway. Here's last evening's attempt; the second of the project. The eyes are too big and the expression is not severe enough. Also, she's not looking at the viewer...
Still, it's getting there. It's the practice I need the most. I sued to be rather better than this, but the rust needs to be chipped away.
