Rather belatedly perhaps, I have just watched Shaun of the Dead on DVD, having missed it at the cinema. As a great fan of Spaced, I was really up for the movie and looking forward to it.

What a let down. Nowhere near as funny as it likes to think it is.

Maybe I should have had 5 pints and a kebab beforehand.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. What a waste of an evening.

I am surprised you didn't enjoy it. Oh well, no accounting for taste etc...

I was surprised, too. As I said, I like Spaced, but this left me cold. Not a single laugh.

Gosh - I thought it was really funny. Perhaps not as good as Spaced, as that's a tall order, but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless.

But I also like School of Rock...

I share your sentiments Caddy. I am a huge fan of spaced, i must have seen each episode about a dozen times, and I was as excited as a kid on Christmas when it came out, but damn I can still feel the dissapointment. I went to the cinema to see it, on the first day it opened I think. Everyone in magazines raved about it, ppl on here did too, I think people wanted it to be good, as its a British film written by Simon Pegg, and having to cope with another Richard Curtis films is too much to bear.

Nevertheless I have faith in Mr Pegg. Perhaps it was because Jessica Stevenson did not collaberate on the writing, as people seem to overlook that she is the co-writer of Spaced or am I mistaken. Is she the Eddie van Halen to his David Lee Roth??

You may be right. It could be their styles complement each other more that Simon Pegg and Edgar wossisname...

Let's hope.

I liked it ... lots ... rather more than I liked Spaced actually. The Fox, on the other hand, is rather more in your camp than mine.

Maybe it's an age thing?

I preferred Spaced, but I think that's because of a couple of reasons:

1. I haven't, to my knowledge, seen a zombie film all the way through before. (I include in this the various Sam Rami ones with Ash in them.)

2. I think that for certain things, the relatively tightly contained structure of a 30 minute show work to their advantage. The more absurd, the more likely it is that I'm going to find it funny over the short term, but tiring over the longer term.

3. Spaced had more of the right sort of geek jokes for my tastes.
