Well, only about two-and-a-half years late, we sat down and watched the pilot episode of Firefly on DVD courtesy [livejournal.com profile] bytepilot.

A good start, I think. Enjoyable bit of Traveller for the TV, Joss Whedon's hand is very evident; I look forward to the 11 (or is it 12?) remaining episodes, at which point we will have to borrow Serenity from somebody.

Got the arms (legs?) -hooky things that go round your ears- lengthened on my specs today. Only about a half centimetre, but they're much better. They no longer sit so close to my eyes that my eyelashes catch the lenses every time I blink. Try it to see just how annoyed you can become in a half hour. I still don't intend to wear them much (though I'm wearing them now), but at least when I do, they won't annoy the bejasus out of me.

In other news, there is no other news.

What they said.

Firefly starts good, gets better, gets very good, gets cancelled.

Serenity then gets on from telling the story from where the series left off with little explanation of who these people are and what off earth is going on, and tells the Arc that would have been the remainder of the series.

Check sendit.com which has both Firefly and Serenity (released 27th Feb) for under 12 quid each.

I obtained an AVI rip of the Serenity DVD, and have now ordered a real one on the strength that it just Must Be Mine.

Yes, Eyelash Lens Tickle Syndrome is bloody annoying. I'd rather leave the specs in their case and squint at upside-down books.

I didn't rate Serenity compared to Firefly, it gave good action but not as much character. I might rant in more detail later, when you have see it. Don't want to spoil.

I find if I wear mascara my eyelashes stick to my lenses. So I don't wear it, and I recommend that you don't either ;)
