Oh dear.

I was feeling dozy again this afternoon. Not as bad as yesterday, but dozy nonetheless. Endless cups of coffee were not doing their job (this M&S stuff is a paltry strength 2, I prefer strength 4). So when I wandered out to buy another jar of coffee, I picked up a walnut whip assortment just for the sugar rush, you understand.

I shouldn’t have et them all.

I no longer feel tired, but I do rather feel a little bit bleh.

That is all.

Do you suffer from diabetes, Caddy old chap? I went through a phase where I kept falling asleep at work for unknown reasons, and then I was diagnosed with diabetes. I cut down on my sugar intake and found my energy levels shoot up.

Not that I'm aware, though I suppose being a middle aged fatty I am a prime candidate (Grumble).

To be fair, it's only the last couple of days I've been feeling tired of an afternoon and I think boredom is a major contributory factor. That said, I have an appointment with the quack onm Monday for my blood pressure, so I'll mention it.

Was it by any chance a Marks and Spencer assortment? I have one of those and ate 3 whips in a row two nights ago. I felt a bit bleh too.

Yes they were and they were all different. Should have stuck with the standard walnut whip and even then made it a standard jobbie.

Oh dear.

The taste intensity of coffee has an inverse relationship to its stimulant content: flavour derives partly from the bean in question, and mostly from roasting it. The heat involved inevitably bakes out some of the caffeine and the darker the roast the milder -- phramacologically speaking -- the result.

I am jealous of your access to walnut whips, though. Do they sill sell the milk chocolate covered items with coffee-flavoured fondant, and does each whip still contain three walnuts?

Yes to the first bit, but no to the second; they have a walnut on top, but I can't remember the last time I had one with even a single walnut inside...

That's very disappointing. It was the thought of the deliciously bitter interior walnuts that kept me going through the over-sweet fondant.

Have you been tested for diabetes again? You could be having dips in your sugar. It always makes me sleepy. Although walnut whips can actually make things worse if that is what's causing it... Try bananas?

The sugar rush woke me up!

I haven't been tested, no - but as I mentioned to JD above, as much as it gives me the fear, I suppose I ought to mentyion it to the quack on Monday. Hopefully it's just boredom and late nights....

Am I right in remembering you've been putting off having a blood test? Get yourself stabbed and tested, old bean. That'll tell you the state of your blood sugar levels.

Sorry to barge in on a medical discussion but it might also be worth getting the quack to check your thyroid levels as this can sometimes be a cause for tiredness. Hopefully, as you say, it will all turn out to be boredom and late nights. Here's hoping.

I couldn't agree more. My thyroid gland packed it in a few years ago, though I didn't know it at the time, I got tired a lot, and very depressed. I think Bwy should get his checked a.s.a.p. The medication to replace the thyroxin hormone is a lot easier to take than diabetic medication (injections? Ouchy!).

Blimey.

I get tired two days on the trot during a busy but boring period at work and suddenly everyone assujes that small but vital parts of my body are packing up!

Whatever happened to just having a bit more sleep? And who said I was depressed?

Lordy!
