It has gone 4 am and I am still awake with rodent related insomnia.

The little bastards are refusing to go near the poison and seem to prefer to eat the carpet.

I have just ordered one of those ultrasonic deterrent devices online in the vaguest of hopes that it will actually do the trick. Oh yes, and a bucket of poison, too. I'll have the little gits one way or another.

The most efficient way to gt rid of mice is to get a rat. But I can imagine it's not that popular a method...

The ultrasonic thingies don't work. Take it from me.

Borrowing a cat for a day does though.

Well, we'll see....

Unfortunately the cat option is not available to me, so however it goes it will be a long war of attrition and eaten carpet.

I'd wondered where my mice had got to.

Ultrasonic thingie doesn't work well, particularly as it needs an uncluttered environment. Mice seem to like to dance to it, or you get deaf mice.

Proper traps are a better solution, but one runs the risk of getting ones big toe caught when stumbling around at 3 am looking for a glass of water.

Glue traps work well, but are cruel, particularly if you don't check them daily. You must also be prepared to deliver the coup de grace to an immobilised rodent.

Other than keeping foody stuff well sealed and cupboards don't have holes in, get some essential oils like peppermint and black pepper, possibly bergamot and give the floors and surfaces where they hang a right good wash with it, diluted with water of course, that generally works and its very invigorating too :)

I think that would require [livejournal.com profile] caddyman to be able to see his floor...
